Yes, ESP, Kramer - all those off-shore makers just build variations of other winning formulas. Nothing new... And it's not "ripping off" if it's legal - which it is. It is, however, derivative.

You do realize that ESP started out as a company that made a living by ripping off Fender instruments, right?

They were one of the 'lawsuit' companies.

If you think they're blatant now, you should've been here 20 years ago when I bought this

Phenomenal bass

My favourite ESP's (circa 1986) were the Tune Bass Maniac ripoffs. Brilliant!

Don't feel bad, they were generally better than the originals they copied.

Try to find an ESP 400 series P instead, my J has seen off the likes of Fender and Sadowsky, it's the dogs gonads.

If I could find a lawsuit era ESP Tele or Strat at a reasonable price I'd jump all over it.

I don't really need any more Jazz or Precisions...

Somebody said Kramer?

But i will add, Kramer was making superb Fender types during a time that Fender was rather... not doing so hot.

Those "vintage" ESP's are better than most Fenders from that era. Same goes for Schecter and certain Ibanez basses, all of which fell under the "lawsuit" curtain.
