How does the ESP Vintage 4 compare to a Fender American?

Good question....I was looking at the ESP website the other day and saw the vintage models. That vintage maple looks pretty sweet....

Man, the ESP Vintage models look killer.

But the '08+ American Std P's are really something special. Granted, it doesn't have the J pup, but Fender really nailed it with these. Mine comes in at under 8 lbs., and the thin finish is wearing beautifully. I'm also amazed at how less obvious the typical bolt on wood neck dead spots are on it. Play a B minor 10th double stop (B on the E string, D on the G string) on just about any other bolt on (+/- a half step), and listen to the buzz/rattle. On my Fender P, it's just about non-existent.

When I first got it, I was a bit underwhelmed with the pup...... but a set of chromes really make this thing sing.

And you'll probably be looking at better resale value down the road with the Fender.
