Same price range as the SX, which have been slowly creeping up....Kurt better watch his back, or come up with some new models to counter.

Does anyone know if those necks popping up from time to time are NOS? Or can Rondo safely get shipments of necks with those headstocks, so long as they aren't attached to a complete bass? |

| | | | Just got my SX in today... I hate to say it, but I think I got a dud. The E string is dead tone wise. The others sound great, but the E string just has no brightness like the others. It's not the strings either. The binding around the neck is pretty uneven and chipped off to the wood in some places. I think I'm going to have to return this bass. |

| | | | It was the string was wound up incorrectly lol. I think I'm actually going to hang onto it. I bought it for the purpose of learning how to install pickups, develop woodworking skills with guidance, and not fear ruining something expensive. And anyone holding off on the SX's because of the new headstock-it's not nearly as bad as it looks online as it is in person, although I'm still going to reshape it to the normal fender one. |

It helps to appreciate it for what it is instead of lamenting what it's not. It's heaps better than the fish hook canoe paddle one they had a few years back! |

To me, a bass at this price is never going to be perfect, and of all the basses at this price range, SX has come the closest. The imperfections can either not bother and be accepted because of the price, or you can do what I'm going to do and fix them yourself..... or at least I'm going to try |

However, I don't mind the new Ursa headstock on those new one piece natural ultra Ursa basses at all. I guess because it's all the same natural grain throughout, it just doesn't stick out oddly like it does on solid colour basses. It looks great, first new Ursa bass I have gassed for. |
