Then I started adding chrome and fell in love with that look. |

But the SX gets a ton of play, being only a few weeks old. It's also setup really nice and gives me a different tone than the P.
The Dillion SCPB gets played mostly at home. Just isn't as comfortable to play in my band, because we play more complex heavy rock stuff and it has a higher action. I still bring it to practice from time to time. |

Mine felt rough when new and I oiled them one night and the next day they felt great. |

I'm not saying they'll ever be a problem, but I'm also digging this bass enough that I'm willing to put a little extra into it. I've already put quite a bit of work into getting it playing its best. |

I've got a pickup cover but it gets in the way too much for my style of playing. It's the same way with my single coil P-bass. I've got a full set of ashtrays for that one, but only put them on when there's pictures being taken.
I think I'm going to make a small pickup ring for my neck pickup. I've got some leftover Bakelite in the shop, I could make it just like a tiny pickguard just big enough to hide the funky route.
Maybe a cool shape, something unique. |

I get a great tone playing right over the pickup, though on a Jazz I gravitate towards the bridge pickup, and I also find myself playing with a pick more with my current band.
I'm gonna sketch a few things up for the pickup ring. Maybe by the weekend I'll cut something. |

Look forward to your pup ring designs. I think its cool and unique and something guardless jazzes would look good with.
