Eternal GAS of the Bassist's Mind

I'm just thinking about my Dingwall Combustion GAS. The irony is that objectively, it's not any better than my current TRB5II!

and finding a dealer near you isn't helpful. But since i'm still in school the price tag puts it off pretty quick

Seriously, I tend to have intense GAS only to calm down when I think about my bills, and household needs.
It doesn't hurt that I actually own a couple of decent basses too.

A little GAS has hurt no-one.... in fact it may be healthy... as stated a lot of the time its a "the grass is greener" thing... and you find what you have is what you need... or in my case I still want it... if only they'd pick my lottery #s....

Off topic a bit Dr, but I just bought an EMG preamp that came out of a Dingwall Combustion a couple weeks ago...and it's going in my Yamaha

A Combustion isn't alot of GAS. A Prima artist is though!
Oh! and not sure what objectively means, but play the Dingwall and see if it's any better than the TRB511!

My last bass purchase cured my GAS, but I have to say it was a weird feeling until I got used to it.

I used to have a reason to troll ebay and constantly check preferred dealer's sites.
Now I don't have much interest in that.
It's an odd feeling...

I will always GAS for stuff. I have a nice bass and amp that everyone likes - even me. I still think I "need" a 5 string or fretless but it goes away when I gig and get by without either of them. For me, an active fretted 4 covers all my needs. Not wants, but needs.

Today I was playing a new Fender American Standard, and it was like heaven! The neck profile, the tone, the sunburst were all superb. It may have been the nicest Jazz Bass, of any kind, I have ever played.

I am GAS-ing over everything, but I really need nothing!

It sure the heck is! I was so used to having GAS that it became the norm for me. I suffered from constant serious amp GAS for over 30 years. And then, when I acquired a US made Ampeg SVT-VR and a pair of LDS nEarful 15/6 cabs, it abruptly ended my amp GAS. And now, it's weird not caring about all the amps that are for sale. I still look at them because it's fun to look at stuff, but every amp I see, I don't like as much as the amp I now have. I have tried nearly all of them (including an Ampeg SVT-CL, which was "meh"). The VR is da bomb tonewise, and the LDS nEarful 15/6 cabs are simply astounding.
