I wish I needed more than one, but every time I have more than one bass I end up getting rid of one. Even a one pickup passive bass can be very versatile if you know how to use it.

I don't NEED any... I'm not a working musician.

It's a hobby. Some guys collect cars, or women, or motorcycles, or play golf. My hobby is cheaper, and I enjoy it very much on several different levels: the creative process of music, the fascination with the instrument itself, as a working piece of art, the history behind them, the camaraderie of jamming and playing with others.

I don't NEED just one bass... but I sure enjoy the heck out of assorted ones I do have.

Yep. I know that I could get by with just one. But I have 4.. When I find the one bass that will get me through ANY gig, I'll thin the herd.

I could get by with just one P-Bass.

Unless you are playing songs with a lot of alternate tunings you should only need one bass. I bought a 5 string and it covers everything I play.

I only NEED one bass, but I'm happy to have several.

My main bass gets 90% of the playing time these days. I used to be much more of a bass whore, playing two or three different basses during a gig, but now I've mostly settled down with my #1. I'll bring something else out now and then, but usually not for long.

In a perfect world, I would like to have my SR5, along with a fretless something, a custom neck-thru Spector, a Modulus something, and maybe a nice Sadowsky jazz. Oh and my upright, of course.

But that's "want." I really only *need* the SR5 and the upright.

Funny thing is, when I was playing six nights a week, I had two basses but played only one. Now I play four times a month, have eight basses and rotate all of them.

But I only NEED one.
