Ever had such a tough E-String, ...

... that bent your tuner?

Ok, in all fairness, this a beat down bass. It's my first one and it was already on it's way to the graveyard when i got it. I just picked it out of the corner to play some last notes on it, take it apart and take it to it's deserved rest - when i saw this...

Is that a set of Rotos on there? I haven't used Rotos in 25 years, but I remember the bright red.

If that's a super cheap tuner, that makes total sense.

Do you mean "taut" E string? Looks like the string ferrule popped out, maybe due to a dry climate?

Take the string off. Take a straight screwdriver and a hammer and gently bang the ferrule back in. Might fix it.

Yeah, it is. I haven't played it in over a year because it became totally playable over time. I'm not the first owner of it, too.
Good eyes! That are indeed Rotos. I tried them but didn't like, so i let them strung on this bass and kind of forgot.

Well, i actually meant "tough" in the meaning of "the string is stronger than the tuner". But taut would actually be correct, yeah
The bass (noname BTW.) was standing in a gig bag next to my bed for a year, so i think the climate wouldn't be such a problem. But if you'd see the rest of the bass, you'd be with me on taking it to the grave. The bridge catched rust in the meantime, to frets are beyond playable (buzzing like hell), missing screws, partly broken input jack, needs a new nut and a new neck in general. So all in all: I'd need to replace actually almost every part of the bass

If it was a cheap bass, perhaps the headstock hole was a hair too loose for the tuner ferrule making it pull out and down easier than it should have.

Rotos Rule!
