Taking close-up photos of things is one of my new-found favorite passtimes. I love bringing out the details in every day objects that you don't really notice without some kind of eye-magnificatoin.
So I took a few pictures of one of my basses and made some discoveries
look at the deep gouges in the side of this fret!
Here is my B-string where it breaks over the bridge saddle. Check out the rust in between the windings:

I'd love to know what camera/lens you're using.

My lens is a bit of a sore spot....I'm hoping to get a REAL Marco lens like a Tamron 90mm soon. But for now it's a crappy Sigma 28-70mm with a macro lens adapter and 2.0x extension tube. That's why the depth of field is so very extreme.
The one of the fret was done with no flash. The string pic was done with a Bower ITTL bounce flash.

Waaaaaaaagh! Those pictures are gorgeous; that's definitely a new perspective on roundwound strings. I'd like to see some close-ups of just the wood grain, especially quilted or flame maple tops... drool-inducing for sure.
