EXTREME close-up

Sign in to disble this ad
Taking close-up photos of things is one of my new-found favorite passtimes. I love bringing out the details in every day objects that you don't really notice without some kind of eye-magnificatoin.

So I took a few pictures of one of my basses and made some discoveries

look at the deep gouges in the side of this fret!

Here is my B-string where it breaks over the bridge saddle. Check out the rust in between the windings:

I'd love to know what camera/lens you're using.

that reminds of the dirty, dirty pictures of lady parts.... then they pull back and it's a guy's folded elbow crease or an armpit squished up.

neat stuff!

Camera is a Nikon D-80 (discontinued a few years ago).
My lens is a bit of a sore spot....I'm hoping to get a REAL Marco lens like a Tamron 90mm soon. But for now it's a crappy Sigma 28-70mm with a macro lens adapter and 2.0x extension tube. That's why the depth of field is so very extreme.

The one of the fret was done with no flash. The string pic was done with a Bower ITTL bounce flash.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

When you think you're the first, here on TB, someone as already beaten you to it.

I guess I should delete this thread and just put my pictures in that one....

Waaaaaaaagh! Those pictures are gorgeous; that's definitely a new perspective on roundwound strings. I'd like to see some close-ups of just the wood grain, especially quilted or flame maple tops... drool-inducing for sure.
