What do people think, fake or real? I'm just not sure about the body and never seen a Fender like it?

My vote is fake. I don't remember Fender putting serial numbers on that part of the headstock. Maybe it is a 90-something replacement neck? From the dent at heel, I think that is possible.

IMO, it Fake.
i can read the 'made in XXX' by the serial number, but since the 'XXX' is so short, i'm assuming it says 'made in USA' and i've NEVER seen that type of imported tuning keys used on a USA fender bass.

Even if it is a fake, it's pretty good looking.

Its fake. Go to a website called tradetang.com and you will find the same bass as well as lakland warwick prs guitars and many others. Some of them do look legit and very nice but they are all fake, chinese made.

besides the tuning keys, it also has incorrect strap buttons and a non fender string retainer. the headstock's shape also looks a bit off but the photo is take at such a wide angle (probably on purpose) that it is harder to see it.

Ever dealt with them or heard of anyone who has gotten one of the fakes? They're pretty obviously fake, but those feauxbackers look pretty cool for the money.

Beyond fake. The color of the body and the neck are incorrect as well. That color is close to a late 70's Fender color but not exact.

Hell, I'm not even sure that's ash, looks like the stuff of K-Mart furniture. ...not that it's necessarily a bad instrument material, just not something that I think Fender ever used for bodies. Fake, to be sure.

I might just be used to my vintage fret wire, but the frets look HUGE on this guy ... the finish looks exactly like a cherry Gib/Epi EBO/3 ... I agree that the wood characteristics are not ash like ... JMHO

Looks fake to me. The tuners look similar to the ones on my SX as well as the nuclear orange neck tint.
