A fake Squire??

Sign in to disble this ad
I found this bass on a local classified site, and have never seen a Squier like it. Is it real? Or is it just some obscure model that I've never seen..

Thanks!

That is a Squire MB-4 bass. They didn't make them very long and the most common ones had a skull and crossbones graphic on the body.

Hey, that's on my watch list.

Was doing some research on it. Never did find the era. Possibly early 00's.
The only thing that bugs me is the knobs. They don't look right, compared to other pics I've seen. They look clunky, plastic, and out of place.

Could just be replacements. Not that this couldn't be a fake, but like Ric5 said, who would fake a Squire? Stranger things have happened, hehe.

well, if it's spelled' Squire' then it probably is a fake, since it's actually spelled 'Squier".
i can't imagine going to the trouble of faking a Squier, or faking a Yugo for that matter.
.........BTW, i'm not putting them down at all. i recently bought a nice SS jag bass for my wife and it's actually a very good bass. i paid $156 for it shipped, brand new.

They're asking $100 for it. I'd like to grab it at that price, just so I can return the Bronco I borrowed.

Yeah those aren't the right knobs, it's not really so much a btb as a gsr200 that says by Fender on the headstock.

Looks like it's gone. Disappeared off my watch list, and hasn't been relisted, yet.

How much would you pay for a fake Squier?

It isn't fake. My first bass was the same but was black with a fade to red in the middle. Awesome bass once you replace the pickups. Mine plays like a dream and is super lightweight.

That is a MD-4; I have one the exact same color, but the knobs are wrong in this picture.
Very lightweight, and I think a 32"scale. Sounds pretty good for a cheap bass...

might be a fake if they spelled it S-Q-U-I-R-E.

edit: John beat me to the punch...
