| | | | Fakland Joan Osborne Hey gents, I decided to create a fun "homage" piece out of my "vintage series" SX Jazz, and since the headstocks are *similar* to Lakland shape, I thought it would be a fun riff...anyone interested in seeing pics once I finish the headstock? The logo, so far, is hilarious.

| | | | here's the logo to start, and of course Joan Osborne being the "what if God was one of us" singer...close to Joe Osborn, of course.

| | | | Of course there will be other "mods", as I'm putting in new pups and crafting an egg-shaped bridge plate...I gig this thing like crazy, and people "in the know" I think would find it funny.

Most people wouldn't think twice about it, but it's a cool little "in joke". By the by, Joan Osbourne was one of the artists who sang with the Funk Brothers on Standing in the Shadows of Motown, and she's really pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised by her take on (Love is Like a) Heatwave.

| | | | Ah, that is one of my fave documentaries...I saw it in theater, and luckily found it in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks! Levert's cover of "I'll be there" kills me.

I was doing a similar thing... a FLAUB... Fender / Glaub combo. My P-bass with a Fralin pick up in place of the original....
I like the FAKLAND too, ... |

| | | | Flaub....Tender Frecision...I am laughing my butt off over here.
Oh, and yeah, I know the rules, as soon as the headstock is done, I will post pics.
I will get another logo made, it's gonna be real "ghetto" just photopaper, as my headstock is gonna be black, just lemmie know.

I have a Decade'ish bass in the works with a t-40 neck, dual darkstars, and a mahogany body that's a cross between a wal/sg/decade. If I didn't like the Peavey logo and pinstriping on the headstock, I might consider puting a "fakland" on it.
As it is, I'm a big t-40 fan, so asside from a light deglossing, the headstock will remain unmolested. |

Gotta remember what font I used for "Tender"...
The "Strafocaster" was for a guitar that still has a blank headstock.

Bill Dickens Jaquo and some other cats were at Lakland with me when I came up with the name. I have lakland pups and eq in a squier thats getting a 35" neck.
I even went as far as fakley! I was going to add some peavey stuff too!
Great minds copy alike!
I can post piccies of the whole ordeal.
