They've been around since the late '80's or early '90's. Yes they are made in Poland, but Musik Store in Köln is the exclusive distributor. The one I tried (Baphomet 4 string, bubinga) had a sound similar to a Warwick. In fact, I believe (but don't quote me on this,) that they were orignally commissioned to be a cheaper alternative to Warwick which gained most of their popularity around the same time. A good bang for the €, but the but not as cheap as they once were.

Love It gorgeous!
But it feels weird!!
Heavy as hell and seems to be neck heavy and my arm feels it has to go out further to get the first position....!
All this against a back drop of my other electric bass is a Hohner Jack Bass Custom 4 string! So its a lot lighter without a head. none the less I can't figure it out....... I've sat them on my lap one in front of the other and they sit Identical..... You go figure!
Have to say though! with the electronics and build, God knows why on earth one would ever what to buy a Warwick Corvette Pro now made in Korea, let alone a German made thumb?
And now I'm after this: Fame - Baphomet 5 NTB LE RD Transparent Dark Red : Electric basses |

But For a the Price of a Fame NTB you only get a Korean made Bolt-on in a Warwick. If you want a Fame Bolt-on its even less and it is still made in the EU!!!!
To get a NTB Warick made in Germany you got to pay 0ver 3 grand, for something that isn't even got flashy LED's....
It no contest really. Mayones who make Fame are just a little too extravagant! |

It's all about how you play your cards bro. Admittedly if you're looking at new, the price difference is remarkable, but why on earth would you look at buying new when you can make things happen like the above mentioned deals. Not to mention that you can get Fenders for just over 1k brand new that are fantastic instruments made in America. Also, I've yet to hear a soundclip or see a video that really impresses me as far as these Fame's are concerned, admittedly I only watched the ones provided in your OTHER topic about these things.
