Family Man playing a Yamaha?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was watching this incredible video of a 1979 Bob marley show. Great bass playing, superior groove and top notch everything all around.
I used to have a 1985 Yamaha BB1600, and the bass that Family Man is playing kinda looks like a Yammy. Is it? Check out around 18:33 there is an extended shot of the bass. The inlays remind me of my old bass, and it's got the backwards P-style split coil pickup. Some sort of P/J model. Anyone know what model it is?

Sick playing and sick music all around. Love this stuff.

EDIT: Here's the link:

Looks like a BB of some kind. Not a Yamaha expert, but it looks like the bridge was changed out for something else.

Yeah, He's always had an old Yamaha around. He's been pictured with it quite a bit.

Yep, looks like a BB, sounds freakin awesome. Family Man could play a 2x4 with string bolted to it & it would sound great.

What the man says about his choice of bass.

You've gotta love the guy...
