What's you're favorite p-bass and why? the only rule is it has to be under 2000 USD.

The build and quality is top's as good as any Fender I have ever played from any time period. The neck is slim and sick fast with tons of tone at 100% stock and thats where it will stay. I also like good old 70's P basses and found a nice one in my 79' mocha/maple neck P, 10lbs and plays like a dream...sounds like a good old classic P bass.
IMO Fender did it right with the P bass. No reason to mess with what works and will keep on working long after allot of the others are gone. BTW none of these basses cost half of 2k.

It's completely stock, wearing either D'Addario Chromes of DR SS Lo-Riders (I switch back and forth a lot.) It's tone never seems to fail me. The alder (I think) body weighs around 8 lbs. The neck is smooth and has nice girth. I could play it all day Not bad for $100 used from GC!!

| | | | My '84 SQ series MIJ Squier. Modded to hell.
Schaller tuners, 105 fretwire, replacement bridge, Basslines Quarter-pounders, 500k pots, tortoiseshell PG, chrome pickup and bridge covers... I've never played a bass I like more than my own.

| | | | My $75 used SX P-bass.
I like this one every bit as much as the several MIA Fenders I had from the 70's.
This SX looks, sounds and plays great. I wish these were around 30 years ago. |

But I'd say my Deluxe Active is pretty damn sweet. Jazz neck, active electronics, Jazz pup. All I need is a mirrored PG.
