Favorite P bass color/ colored pickgaurd with a rosewood neck?

It's all in the title.

I'm saving to buy an american standard precision soon, with a rosewood neck. I just don't know what color/ pickgaurd combo i should get yet. I know it all depends on personal preference, but i want to hear some of your opinions on what looks good to you. I wouldn't mind painting the pickgaurd or buying another off of warmoth or something... so, post away!

I'm easy done by, black body with a black/white/black pickguard. When I get my SX p-bass at long last I'm going to be doing it up cosmetically that way.

That's cool, man

My mexi-P has a black body and an orange (i spray-painted it) pickgaurd. I've been thinking about putting it back to white, though. I kind of miss the simplicity of it.

Been there, done that. I got a WHITE American P-Bass with the stock tort pickguard and rosewood neck. Only other combo I would prefer is the 3-tone sunburst with tort and rosewood.

Yea, i was looking at the white one today, and i've seriously been considering the sunburst, once it ages a little it'll look awesome. But then again, i somehow always find myself drawn to solid colors some of the time.

I remember hearing some crap about sunburst bodies sounding better than others.. is that actually true?

Not quite, I think that if you can see the grain of the wood, it'll be better sounding. Although, Fender piles on all that polyurethane clear coat just as much as they'd do for a solid color model.

Natural body, parchment or black guard, depending on your taste.

I like Oly White and tort, Sea Foam Green and white pearl, and black with tort. The current American Standard looks great with Candy Cola and the white guard. Of the current colors, that would probably be my second choice behind Oly white.

I don't have a single fave, but I like all options below:
-3TSB w/ tort
-crimson red w/ black or pearl white
-butterscotch blonde w/ black
-black w/ tort
-lake placid blue w/ mirror

That about covers it.

Charcoal Frost, with a black pearloid guard, but I am biased!

It looks 1000 times better in person. Even my wife whose usual line is "So what?? It is looks like a bass?" said "Wow! That is really pretty". I know the neck it maple, but might even be more stunning with rosewood

+1 to simplicity. I'm a big fan of a black/rosewood P-Bass with a white pickguard. Current Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock is my laptop background, rocking on a MIM P-Bass in said color combo. I don't even like the Sex Pistols: the bass just looks THAT good

Yes! Fender uses particle board for all bodies painted so that you can't actually see the wood!

Kidding aside: bodies with transparent finishes are sometimes made with prettier planks of wood, but there's no actual correlation between pretty to the ear and pretty to the eye.
