PAT WILKINS IS THE MAN!
So I got this '93 BN4 fom here 1993 FBass F-Bass 4 string – Canada $2000 and the finish wasnt in the best shape so I sent it in to Pat Wilkins Welcome to Pat Wilkins™ Custom Guitars & Finishes for a makeover. The blue was so dark that it was covering all of this crazy maple. So here are the before pics.

Here is what Pat found under all of that dark blue. Being I live so close to the D, he finished it with his Tiger's Eye. Here's a shot with and without clear coat.

I like blue, but this one looks a whole lot better without all of that excess dye!

Gorgeous. That's like covering hardwood floors with purple shag carpeting.

The D? I'm guessing Detroit? (You don't have your location listed.)

I have no idea, Pat said it wasnt stained, it was sealed and then sprayed with the blue. so when he stripped it, it was white wood.

I have had 3 basses refinished by Pat, soon to be 4, always turned out better than my expectations. I'll say it again, PAT WILKINS IS THE MAN!

Man, I gotta wonder if the factory finish was stripped first, and the blue Pat took off was itself a refin.

I can't imagine George F. putting that nice top wood on it, then covering it up. The man has a fantastic sense of aesthetics, including a sensitivity to the grain of the wood--just check pix of his work.
