apparently it's in a container that can't be opened until the vehicle is out for delivery on tue.

it's here in my town and i can't get it even if i wanted to. how lame is that

I've never been able to pick up something until they've made at least one attempt to deliver it.

I LOVE UPS...not so much FedEx! A couple of years ago I was supposed to take delivery on a Saturday of a no-name bass I purchased from Ebay via FedEx. This was confirmed through their online tracking. By 6pm I still hadn't received my bass. I called FedEx and was told the driver had requested the day off at the last minute, and my bass was locked in his delivery truck (at his residence, no less) with the other shipments for the day. The Rep assured me my item was safe, so don't worry. This was during the winter and we were in the middle of a below-zero deep freeze. I told the Rep I was concerned for my bass and the cold. His response, "It's insured, isn't it?" THAT wasn't the point. It was "only" $175, my first time buying a guitar without trying it first, so I was skeptical to begin with. I DID get my bass on Monday, and after letting it acclimatize for a few days, it was fine. After spending a lot of time setting it up, I DO have a very capable player!

UPS is definitely better - at least around my hood (and USPS . . . how they are still in business is a mystery?!?!?!)

UPS isn't as bad, but I have had problems with them - they did this very thing with my SX short-scale. It was in town scheduled for delivery, and didn't show up. Next day it arrived late in the afternoon. No explanation, but I wasn't in a great hurry so I let it pass.

Is it Fed Ex Express or Ground?

Then there are a couple of factors that would come into play here. First the containers they are talking about are full of hundreds of packages. Sorting through numerous containers to find your package is kind of like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Second, since it is not due until Tuesday it won't go out for delivery on Monday. The shipper chose the speed at which the bass was to be delivered, probably 2 Day or Express Saver (3 Day). The lowest volume business for FedEx Express is Monday's. In order to run more efficiently they reduce the number of delivery routes on Mondays and only deliver those packages which are scheduled for Monday delivery. Many of those freight containers which do not contain Monday packages are not opened until Tuesday morning. That being said I would still check back with them late Monday morning and ask to speak to a customer service rep. They may be able to locate your bass easier after the Monday morning freight has gone out for delivery. If so you should be able to go to the station and pick it up.

How do I know all this? I have been a FedEx Express courier of the past four years.

Wow Love for UPS weird, I like fedex more.

Dont sweat it , honestly if you get a bass shipped and its not broken thats room enough to be stoked, if it is broke I would be pissed times two.

Truth: FedEx and UPS have systems that are crafted like a fine dance. They're not going to screw up their delivery system for you. Chill...it's going to get there OK.
