So it's only seen a handful of gigs and only for (at most) a few songs per gig. Plus, I have WAY too many basses! Nevertheless, the HR will be gigged regularly now, while my others sit at home :-).

Iphone pic but you get the idea. Bought mine at the end of last year from a fellow TB'er. I really love this thing, I go back and forth between this and a P as my main players. I've strung this with Ernie Ball Slinky's, and I usually play with a pic, bridge P/U at full, neck backed off touch. Sounds like a dream. I've thought about replacing the pickups, just to try for a vintage sound. I also don't really use the S-1 switch, if I want a P sound I use a P. But no rush to change it up, sounds great anyways.
A few years ago I had a Highway 1 Jazz I really liked, but my mom needed some cash, so I sold it. Since then I always wanted a J with a nitro finish, I really think the tone is better with nitro vs poly, and it was between this and a 62'RI. Those are nice basses but I don't think I made a bad decision with this one. |

I think you made a great decision choosing one of these. It looks like your HRJ Bass is aging quite nicely.
If you decide to change the pups, please update us on how you like the replacements.

Due to living in a thin walled townhouse I've moved to the Zoom B3 and some sennheiser headphones, I'm in heaven.
