So I have had my 50's Classic P for about a year now. They are great basses. The neck takes a little bit to get used to after playing J's for a while. I still use my Jazz Bass for gigs, but I do see me bring that P out soon too.
Has anyone changed their pick-ups on these, or left the factory ones in?
If changed, what do you have now? |

I had Quarter Pounders in a P-bass build and if you're looking for more output, they are the way to go, if not a completely traditional P-bass tone.

I put SD Antiuqity II's in one of my Jazz' back in 06' made a difference.
I don't want a big difference in output, maybe suttle. Just want to nail down that Old Sound, Motown, 60's and 70's funk.
If I do not keep stock, I was looking into:
Fender 62's
Seymaour Duncans SBI or SBII
Lindy Fralin
I beilieve Chef put some DiMarzio's. I am not crazy about the look (allen screw style poles), but I hear people like them. |

| | | | I put a set of Lindy Fralins in mine and it was like taking a blanket off of the bass, which I wasn't sure was possible since I liked the stock pup too. But yeah, the Fralin was a huge improvement, so much that my bandmates complimented me on it. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
