They were featured in an issue of Bass Player right after they first came out. They were not supposed to be a re-issue of any particular bass, but a kinda "best of" the Fender Jazz Bass. I'm pretty sure there's a club for it. Try searching "anniversary"...

Ya know...the more I look at these, the more that thumbrest bothers me. Its more functional, I get it, but seeing so many Jazz Basses with tugbars, it just
looks out of place. Maybe it just because I float my thumb, and never use them either way. Other than that, I love their looks.
