| I actually had a couple of the 60's J's at the same time ... and then seen a couple others as well ... FWIW, all were very nice ... finish is absolutely beautiful, and I am a fan of the small radius and vintage frets from the real thing in the 60's ... FWIW, in my personal experience, the older the better for the Classic 60's ... I have an '01 and had the '04 at the same time, and then the couple others I have seen were the newer models ... I cant tell you exactly how/why, but the '01 still lives with me and the rest have gone to homes with more love ... '01 was the first year for them, and Fender also made a FSR of some with matching headstocks on this lot as well ... the current Classic 60's J's I have seen also have the CNC hole under the p/g ... none of the older ones I have had, had it ... they really are a good value, I have seen a few white ones go across the board lately for a decent price ... mine is a little over 8#, and was the lightest one I have seen ...
... interestingly, I have been considering the 50's P also ... I am not a P person, but I keep coming back to the 50's Classic ... all the P's I have had have moved on, and I had some very nice ones including MIM Standards, a few Hwy 1's, and some 70's Americans back in the day, and even a couple of Squiers .... but its been a few years and I think I am almost ready to try another, and it will either be a 50's or a RW ...
... enjoy your new toy ... the white would be very nice ... |
