Fender '70s Precision Bass

Has anyone else seen this yet. Should be pretty cool, as long as it plays like a '70s and has a fraction of the weight. Fender® Products

Wow, that thing is beautiful!

I'm really relieved it's got a maple fretboard. Otherwise, I'd probably have to buy it. So what's wrong with owning a 5th P-bass anyway...?

Nice looking bass.....but puzzling! Block inlays and binding in the '70s were reserved for Jazz basses. According to my Fender history book there were some one-off P-Basses made with the blocks and binding but it was not standard on the P-Basses at that time.

But in any case, it still is a sharp looking P-Bass!

I agree, if it had a rosewood fingerboard bound fingerboard with pearloid inlays, I'd have to buy it. Thank goodness.

Meh, I don't care if it's authentic or not. I like the blocks, especially with the P-bass width neck.

Oh. My. Lanta.

Production P-bass with blocks... Trying to breathe... Realizing I have nowhere near enough money to own one in the next five to ten years... Okay.

Wow.

No GAS for me unless it's pearloid blocks on rosewood or pau ferro.

Id like it better If it was maple with dots on a natural ash body. You know, like a real 70s precision.

not all '70s P-basses played great, just as not all were heavy. that was more of a J bass problem.

Many had *huge* necks.

I don't like the black inlays. I think it would look better if they were pearl or a rosewood finger board with pearl inlays.

The white one is sweet, but sooo unnecessary in this house! Unnecessary does not necessarily mean I can resist, though.

Exactly what I was thinking... But I'm happy with any blocks.
And for a P with pearl blocks, there's always SX...

I really like the white one with black blocks. Dig that look. Oly white would be better though.

I have the same history of the Fender bass book as mentioned before, these basses aren't historically accurate for being mass produced in the 70's, but it's cool looking regardless. I love the blocks regardless of black on maple, pearl on maple, and pearl on rosewood--I'd do any of those 3 when it comes to vintage style basses.

Oh I'm groov'n on the white one, maple board, and black blocks--spot on! I love that look. Could care less about historical accuracy (weight? temperamental pre-G&L 3-bolt neck anyone?). Hope it plays as well as it looks. And check it out, it’s MIJ. Now what shop out there actually has one in yet? Whoever gets their grubby hands on one first MUST write a review!

Just curious, but where does it say that? Didn't see it on the Fender site. All the other members of the classic series are MIM.

Bass Emporium has them in stock, and they've got them selling for $799, which puts them in line with the other classics models.

+1

For some reason I only like black inlays & binding with natural bodies.
