Since this is the first time any of us heard of a 5-string Aerodyne, I have to assume that none of us played it. Do we have TB members from Japan that can go to a store & test it for us?

***** Well, I've just found four of them, all jazz basses, all black! About $1200 here in Japan.
..........Also, ALDER body. Many of the Aerodyne models use basswood.
