Two months isn't that long; especially if you told them up front it would be that long.
If that was going to be a problem for the shop, they should have said so up front.

By walking away from the problem and waiting 5-6 years, you've completely tossed your ability to do anything about it though.

Most stores to have a policy like that but they are supposed to at least post it somewhere visible.

Morningstar music is one of those stores that has changed location a bunch of times over the years. Now they are in a really small space in what most Naples residents consider to be "damn near the Everglades". They also have a reputation for being the shop that will let instruments hang around for years and never bring the price down to make room for new inventory. Therefore you could be buying a 3 year old bass, or 10 year old PA components, and they are still trying to get the same as they did the day that it hit the sales floor.

In our shop, how long we have to wait until selling your stuff is part of what you sign when you check it in. It's spelled out in writing on the claim check we give you. We also have a space on the invoice to create a record of when we try to call and we never sell anything until we have sent at least one written warning and then a second warning by certified mail.

Abandoned gear is a big problem at repair shops and disposing of it legally is big time suck. I would also like to add that we have never sold anything after only two months. Two years is more like it. We are not bashful however of adding the dollar a day storage charges when we feel we are being abused.

But because I had no idea, I didn't see why that would have been necessary.

Again, this isn't meant to be a "you should have done...." kind of thread, I was just wondering if someone might see this thread who lives/has lived in the area or whatever and might have seen it.
I mentioned the 30 days they own it thing, once again I do not know about Florida but up here in Canada though that law works (It is called the Mechanics Lien) you have to post it somewhere visibly (And buy the sign from the government for $25). I didn't mean it as a should have done thing either, I was just pointing out that you probably wouldn't have legal recourse as you mentioned you didn't want people to say you should litigate.

So did you ever get another aerodyne to replace this one?

Unfortunately when you post on the internet, you dont get to dictate what people are allowed to post or how they respond. Its kind of the point of the internet. Amazingly people make that same mistake over and over again, so youre not alone.

That being said, I wish you luck in catching up with your Aerodyne.

I appreciate it. I'm not trying to be aggressive about the whole not wanting to hear the "should have done" so I am sorry if that came across as being harsh or angry. I understand and appreciate people are free to share opinions and thoughts

Unfortunately no, I have not ever had another Aerodyne Jazz. Like I said though... starting this thread and keeping up with it has pretty much made up my mind that at some point I'd like to get another one!

Put it behind you. Any money you might have spent on a legal action is best put in a cookie jar towards a new Aero. Isn't it great to know that you found your "dream bass" - all you have to do is replace it and you'll be happy. Far too many folk here spend years (and thousands) searching for the Holy Grail (y'all know who you are*)

I wish you well!

*mea culpa....

Man that's just ridiculous, it just goes to show how hard it is to trust people. It was definitely a huge mistake on your part, and im sure you've learned from it. Sucks because those aerodyne basses are nice

THANKS

I work next door to Morningstar. I can't wait to mess with them about this one! They are the worst store I've set foot into, ever! I'll keep my eye out for YOUR bass. :-)

That's crazy! Let me know what they say (if they say anything). I think the guy I had talked to (both on the phone and in person when I went to pick up the bass) was named Doug. Not positive, also who knows if he still works there, but who knows.
