And yes, that is a nice bass. I've only played one, but it impressed me.
Of course, I wouldn't pay list for it... Yikes!
I'll tell you this... I certainly wouldn't buy the Fender, any Fender, without playing it first. I'd have more confidence that the Sadowsky would arrive the way I want it...

Easy to do if you pay attention. So far I'm impressed and frankly wouldn't pay over twice that for the Sadowsky (and I've owned a Metro). I like Sadowsky for a number of reasons, but Fender is making some *really* good basses right now. Unless you really want/need the Sadowsky sound (which is not the same as the Fender sound), the value nod goes to Fender imho. |

And I did hear that Fender has upped their quality the last couple of years. |

I own the NYC Sadowsky and Fender Deluxe and both are great basses for the money. If you got money, go for the Sadowsky and never have to look for another bass (:-) |

If you have the cash, buy the Sadowsky used for a few bills more than you'll pay for a new Fender. If for you find the Sado is not to your liking you should be able to sell it for what you paid for it.

As such if he buys it at full pop and decides to flip it, he'll be down at least $600 and possibly more. The Fender bought at $1600 would probably be down $500 on a flip, BUT it is easy to buy the Fender new for a few hundred less, cutting down on the loss.
Best value would be to find a used Sadowsky - that way someone else has taken the depreciation hit.
As far as I can tell, there is no bass that causes everyone to never have to look for another. Plenty of used Sadowskys (and every other brand) indicate that some (many?) are never satisfied. The Sadowsky is awesome if you want that signature tone. Downside of the Metros is they tend to be heavy compared to the NYCs, so you lose that benefit. |

And I did hear that Fender has upped their quality the last couple of years. | The trouble with that is that Fender is usually one of those manufacturers who choose "not to participate" in those GC discounts.
