Fender American Standard Jazz V vs Deluxe Jazz V
I'm looking at a new Fender. It's gotta be Fender due to the sponsorship. I've been playing MIM P-basses, and I used to rock a 6-string BTB.
So I want a 5-string Jazz. But I'm trying to decide if the Deluxe is worth the money. I hear problems with hum and noise, but the block inlays are almost worth it themselves.
But in 2012, did they also put the Custom Shop pickups in the 5-string Jazz's?

I should add that I can't do anything to the basses. I have to keep it stock, and that includes shielding,

You should specify that you mean AMERICAN Deluxe Jazz V
There's an MIM one, too.

Get an American Deluxe! I have a 2012 and it is great! no issues, whatsoever. And you get the benefit of active/passive.

If you are being sponsored, can't you ask Fender to help with shielding if it's an issue? Second, it is not ethical, but how would Fender know if you upgraded the shielding?
