Fender American Vintage 57 Precision or 62 Precision ?

Looking at both the American Vintage 57 P bass and American Vintage 62 P bass.
Aside from cosmetics, is there a big difference in tone and feel ? Has anyone played both and can compare for a rock and roll sound?

I don't have the luxury of being able to compare them first hand.

I own both. The basic feel is the same, same neck profile, etc. but the raised A-poles in the 57 give it a little more mids, less of the low mids. Both are great players.

I have the 62 and I can honestly say it's the best bass I've ever owned. I play with a pick and use stainless DR's and I get a nice growl out of it without it being too overpowering.

I own (and play) both on a regular basis.....comparison....It seems as thought the neck profile on the 57 is a little "fatter" but not bad....to be honest, if a gun were held to my head and I HAD to decide between the two, I would have to choose the 62RI. It is, without doubt, the finest Precision I have ever played.

As usual....YMMV and IMO......

I love my '62 reissue - it really is the iconic P-bass IMO.
