Hey folks. I was in a music store today and absolutely fell in love with a Fender P-bass that I had never seen before. The salesman told me that it was a new old stock American Vintage Series '62 RI. It was salmon colored with a tinted neck with rosewood fingerboard that felt incredible. he thought it might be from the late 90's?? There is no country of origin anywhere on it and it had the thin, spegetti logo and a V serial number stamped on the neck plate. It had a really nice, deep tone too. I fell in love with it although it has some scatches here and there. He was asking $1000.00 for it and said that it would have originally sold for about $1500.00. Can anyone identify wexactly what it is and what it might be worth? I really liked the salmon color too. Dont know the Fender name for it though. Thanks! |

If its a real 62RI then its worth the 1000 clams. They go for $1500 new now. Used they go for about $1000. If the scratches are deep see if you can get him to 800 850

If you're serious about it, tell the guy to pop the neck off, you'll find the written date.
There is no country of origin on the MIA 50's/60's reissues because the originals didn't have it either. |

Early 1982-1986 Reissues were Fiesta Red.
In the 1990's they put out coral. (coral is a little darker)
If it's a early 80's Fiesta Red it's worth a few clams.
Fiesta Red was a rare color for reissues.
I'll give you a $1000 for it is if a 80's Fiesta Red |
