I came across an arodyne bass on craigs list for $400 it was really neat looking can't find one in a music store to try one, so i fugured I'd post a question on here to see what all the bass playing crowd thinks of it.

Assuming you are talking about the Aerodyne jazz.

Can sound like a P and with both pickups on is close to a Jazz but not quite there. Of course you can nail the honky jazz bridge sound.

I changed the bridge for a hipshot because I think the traditional fender bridge is crap (unlike the HMV which is quite nice) and installed an xtender to detune down to Low B.

Construction was quite good and the looks are a bit different from the traditional fender which I love :P. A good solid instrument overall and gives you some interesting choices sonically because of the P/J configuration.

They're good solidly built basses, many tonal options, nice thin bodies. 400 bucks is an OK price, not a killer deal, but worth going for if you want one.

I've got an Aerodyne P with a single J pickup. I switched the neck for an older J neck that I had (the stock one was ok but this neck is really nice). I come and go with the bass, but it usually is my main gigging axe due to its extreme lightness (I probably perform an average of 10-12 sets per week so that is a consideration), and also I've been really liking its recorded tone on just the P pickup.

I paid about $550 Canadian new, so if its in good condition and plays well I'd say go for it.

Liking mine. Took me a bit to get used to it and the variety of tones possible. Really liking it now. I'm finding it to be a much nicer bass than I originally thought it would be.
