Fender Blacktop Jazz: WOW!

Sign in to disble this ad
I played today and I am in love! The dual split pups make for a tone monster! I can't get over the perfect aggressive Jazz slap tone this bass gets with both pups on full!
Each pup soloed sounds great too and this bass is only $499! I would love to hear one of the through a Sadowsky outboard preamp.

I tried one in a Daddy's Junky Music Store ... before it closed. Totally drooling for one now - top of my GAS list.

I had one, but had to sell it. Great tone and cuts through nicely. But I needed money and it was that or my BTB and the BTB had better tone. I will however have another one some day and a MP Jazz as well.

I won't be a jerk. It was at Swing City, in Edwardsville. The Collinsville store probably has one too.

We have those in stock at Portland Music Co. in Portland OR! Have the Blacktop P-bass too. I think they both sound and play great!

The quality of construction of the Blacktop Jazz was very nice also. Although I really don't gig with fours, I am very tempted to buy this bass because I am sucker for a thin necked and sweet slapping bass.

Where are the Blacktops crafted.... are they MIM or somewhere else? Just curious.

They are MIM...serial numbers start with 'MX'. As far as fit and finish, I have yet to find anything wrong with mine. The setup was even very good...although it may have been done by the store where I purchased it.

I believe the Jazz has a slim jb-style neck and the Precision has a thicker one, 1.65" probably. I might be wrong though.

Cool i had a doubt because on the website both p and j have the same thickness according to specs on fender.com
Besides I have short stubby fingers until I found the jazz bass...so I really need a think neck
