Hey Guys, just cleaning out some stuff and came across these and I'm not sure what bass they came from but I've had these for a long time, I'm pretty sure the bridge cover is from a P Bass, now the only P Bass I've ever had with covers was a 64' P Bass that I had 32 years ago and the PU cover I'm not sure what bass it came off of, I've had a 68' Tele bass and a 74' Jazz bass..Now my question is how can you tell how old a P Bass cover is and what bass did the PU cover come from and again how can you tell how old it is...
Any input on this would be great...Thanks

Unfortunately you can't really prove the year of a given Precision bridge cover...just wether it's old or new.
The one thing that separated the old covers from the new ones is the chrome plating. Old chrome has a blue-ish hue to it (like the one in your pics), where new chrome has a ligher yellow-ish hue. That's one way new ones can't be faked as originals onto old basses.
At least the bends and lower profile of the P pickup cover are different between the originals and reissues, so it's easier to tell, but still can't pinpoint an exact year.
Thanks Guys, come to think on it I used to have a Gibson SB400 or SB350, something like that, SG style bass it was from the late 60's or early 70's maybe it was from that bass..idk..how much do you think I could for them, looking to sell since I have no use for them...
