I thought it was kind of a darker Candy Apple Red.

It's dark red with a copper undercoat which you see when light shines on it. It's definitely red though.

Your dealer is thinking of Candy Tangerine. Candy Cola is red, and a dynamic red at that. Changes a lot depending on lighting and all that. Can range from a bright metallic red to, as another poster put it, a darker Candy Apple red. Sort of has some maroon hues as well, under the right light. It's the sort of color that you really just have to see in person.

I have a Candy Cola P bass. It is a gorgeous color. As has been stated, it is definitely red, but it looks vastly different under different lights. It can go from a dark red to a very bright red. Under bright stage lights it looks almost gold because of the reflection from the undercoat.

I've thought of it as more like a Dr. Pepper can. The others are right about how much it changes under different light. These are of my 2008 Jazz V. You can see the gold undercoat in the second pic. It's an awesome color.

I didn't like it in the catalogs. Then I saw it in the store. It's hot.
