I have the same model minus the Bad Ass Bridge....I bought mine in 1999. I have used it on a number of gigs and it sounds good. I'm not crazy about the Pickups though, and have my eye on a set of Fender Custom Shop Jazz Pickups. I wouldn't call it a 'Reissue' though....the pickup spacing is not the same as a real 1975 Jazz....the logo is different also...unlike any Fender Logo on a USA made Bass. The word 'Fender' is too small. The build on mine is very solid and it plays Great.

That there is a '70s reissue (note the 3 bolt neck). These aren't worth a ton of money, but they're worth some. What's he asking???

And good on you for actually PLAYING an instrument before you reached for your wallet! If you play it and then dig it, then BUY IT!

Here's mine.....

CIJ Fender Jazz bought in Japan in 2003. This model is one of the models that are sold for the Japanese market only. They call it the JB-75 which is funny because as david fitch already pointed out, it's not a straight re issue since it has 60's pickup spacing. It is a good bass. The CIJ and MIJ Fenders quality generally ranks as good as MIA in terms of fit and finish but their electronics and some hardware are usually sub par. I've done some mods to this bass:

-New Bone Nut
-Hipshot D Tuner
-Series/Parallel push-pull pot on the tone knob
-D'Addario nickel strings (45-105)
-BadAss II bridge
-Switchcraft input jack
-I also want to change the pickups.

Right now, this exact model, new, goes for 110,000 yen here in Japan which is about US $1,350 so if you can get it for a good price, I'd say go for it!!!

I hope this helps........

I've got a CIJ '75 Reissue, natural finish w/rosewood fretboard. I like it as much as any other Fender I've played, it's a good solid instrument
