Youll find a lot on eBay. I ended up ordering a fender 75 ri black guard. It fits but some holes need to be drilled to accommodate it as 2 holes are in different places than the original pickguard. It has the holes for the pickup cover and thumbrest. Ill finally be able to use my chrome cover and thumbrest. They've been gathering dust for 11 years now. Ill be replacing the badass2 it came with & going with a 75 ri bridge. I just can't seem to set it up to my liking with the badass.

Sorry about that. Musta been another thread. I'm pretty sure pickguardian or jeannies can fashion one for you, but you may need to provide a template.

Just realised today mine has 60's PU spacing! Anyone else got that? Or is it a factory flaw?

Definitely should not have 60s spacing. But Fender does make a 60s Classic. Does yours have a bound and blocked neck? What about the headstock logo. Photos?

Check out this thread for me, for photo's/references etc.:

60's spacing on MIM RI Classic 70's Jazz Bass? WHAT SPACING IS THIS?

Thx.

Yipes! That's 60s spacing, alright. It's either a factory mistake (if you bought it from a dealer) or a 70s Classic neck on a MIM body. How's it sound and play?

I bought it from a dealer. Sounds great, feels great, got compliments on it from all over the place (even very experienced players).

What should I do? Let Fender know? How to contact them (e-mail or something, I already turned their site upside-down looking for a e-mail adress)? Frankly, I don't want to trade it/hand it in.

Or should I just keep on doing my thing with it?

(And the forbidden question: Is it worth more, now? )

If you want to pursue anything, I'd start with the dealer. Then again...if it sounds great, feels great, and you get compliments on it, it might not matter - especially if you don't want to trade it/hand it in.

Here's some contact info:
Fender Musical Instruments Corporation
Attn: Consumer Relations Dept.
17600 N. Perimeter Drive, Suite 100
Scottsdale, AZ 85255
Telephone: (480) 596-7195
Fax:
(480) 367-5262
E-mail:
consumerrelations@fender.com

I'm no expert on such things, but being that it's MIM, not really a collector's piece, I doubt it's worth more. In fact, to someone who's looking for a 70s Classic Jazz...it may actually be worth less.

Mine has just spent 2 weeks @ Fender Hq Dusseldorf because of neck issues. She has another 3 weeks to wait for a new neck... It'd better be a good one!

Thanks for the support! Chances are that the neck is sort of 'custom made', and hopefully well checked. I don't think they'd put on a new neck of inferior quality and with the same issues.

The neck played wonderful, was nice, smooth and thick, with a nice radius fretboard with some of the best fretwork I've ever seen. But despite it's thickness, it was still as flexible as a straw. It just wouldn't go straight. At the store they've turned the trussrod to it's maximum, without any effect whatsoever...

So, fingers crossed for the new neck...

Complet family,

That's a nice family you've got there. Seems like you've got most sounds covered!

Very nice collection you have there!
I had a Babicz bridge on mine for a little while but I changed it to a Hipshot vintage model

My MIJ Classic Series '70s jazz (yes, MIJ, long story) had been up on the wall getting very little love. I had even considered selling or trading. Finally today I decided to change the strings and tweak the setup. The heavy gauge La Bella steels were not doing it for me at all. Hard to play and very clanky. Put on some TI JR344 rounds. Wow, like a new bass! Tone for days and finally fun to play.

I'm quite interested in the MIJ-story, actually. Now I have to know!

Thanks for asking. I posted some info on this last summer.

Upon starting out as an aspiring bassist and new TB member, I stumbled upon a clearance sale via the Hot Deals thread. This was at an authorized Fender dealer in another state. I ordered an MIJ Classic Series '70s Precision. They also had an "MIJ Fender Classic Series '70s Jazz Bass" at a great price so I ordered that too.

Both sunburst, both BnB necks, both MIJ, obviously now known as the Twins. I queried Fender Customer Service and here is what I found out:
