Fender color: Honey Blonde on classic 50 Precision

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, i'm about to get a P-bass, and i'm quite sure about the Classic 50 Precision: i tried it in my local store and i fell in love with it.

The problem is that my local store only has it in Fiesta Red color, and if i want another color i have to order it.

I was pretty sure about the Fiesta Red, until last week i saw a band whom bass player had what i think was a classic 50 in a white-ish color: the bass was awesome, a sort of aged white-yellow color, and i thought it was the Honey Blonde; i searched on the fender website and in their the photos the honey blonde seems to tend more to the beige-brown rather than white, but i know i don't have to trust websites pictures.

So, basically here my question: if anyone had a Classic 50 in honey blonde can please post a picture so i can figure out what this color looks like?

Thanks in advance

That "white" was probably just aged. White does that. I have an Olympic white Jazz Bass, and when I take off the pickguard, you can see the yellowing.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo, but my brother's bassist has one in that colour. It is indeed like an aged white, but with a slight tinge of very light brown. The picture on the fender website is considerably darker than real life. It looks really, really cool.

Here's the one I had. Honey Blonde is a light beige color. It is a very slightly see-through finish. You have to look closely to see the wood grain.

These are GREAT basses for the money.

Yeah, the Honey Blonde is more beige-ish than white. But I think they look great with the gold anodized guard and maple neck/board. I don't think they offer the Classic '50s in that color anymore though. You either have to find one used, or find a store with a new old stock one. Bass Emporium had one in stock not too long ago. Here's mine:

Edit: I just saw that you're in Italy. I don't know if Bass Emporium ships internationally.

Oh, i almost forgot to ask: to access the truss rod it's necessary to take off the neck or it's possible to adjust it with the neck on?

Honey blonde is beautiful! There's a bass at a shop in my city that is honey blonde, and I can never take my eyes off of it. It is lighter than on the website, more of an aged white. Plus the slight transparency is gorgeous.

I used to own that same model with that same colour. You can adjust the truss rod with the neck on but you have to remove the pick guard. I took mine to a luthier and he cut a notch in the pick guard and the body so that I could easily adjust the truss rod. The neck felt great but I did have to adjust it fairly often. It also had a pretty bad dead spot when I used heavy gauge strings. I liked the bass but already had two P-basses and several others that could do a decent P-bass sound.

ilmaio, you can get one here ... Link ...

They're a reliable seller and will ship to Italy (they sent my Sadowsky to Germany, no problems).

I copied this photo from their website when I was thinking about buying one of these 50's P Bass. At that time, they had three in stock, so this may or may not be the exact same bass as they have in stock now ........

Anyway, it's just another suggestion for you .

Andy

I love my Honey. I recently added a mint guard which has really received a lot of compliments. I bought mine site unseen and love the bass. Word on the street is they are pretty consistent one to another. The Road Worn 50's P is nearly the same bass. The have a slightly narrower body and seem to cherry pick lighter piece of wood. And the finish is nitro. I love the two road worn P's I have tried as well.

Here's my pics of my 50's Honey with Gold and Mint guards.

Dave, that mint DOES look nice on there! That's another nice thing about these H.B. Classics - a variety of pickguards look good on them. Mine had a tort guard on it when I bought it (used). It looked killer, but I eventually put the gold anodized on. Here's the tort look:

They look great, all the different scratch plate combos... a pain to swap over but a neat idea.

The combination on this bass, color, pickguard and neck, works perfectly. Fender is still making this color. We do ship internationally, but US dealers are unable to ship new Fender basses internationally.
