fender cowpoke hissing?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Everyone, I have fender 1994 mim p bass "COWPOKE" and went to a guys house for craigslist trade. ironically the guy is another TB member :] lol He was really nice and had a great setup. But anyways I was going to trade the cowpoke for a very nice ibanez sr505 he had [I love those models] So he plugs my cowpoke into a very nice ampeg head with a fender 2x15 cab with horns and....the bass sounded great BUT underneath the nice sound was a horrible hiss like when your treble is up too much? It wasnt his amp though, we even tried it on another nice rig of his and I dont blame the guy at all for not wanting to trade after that noise. Plus he was really nice and gave me one of his band cds out of generosity lol BUT ANYWAYS Oddly enough I go home and plug it into my rumble 150 [also has horn] and it sounded great? Just wondering what you all could say the reason for the hissing was. Thanks soo much, Jacob

Two different amp will produce two different sounds. His may be on the treble side or his house may have florescent lighting or a dimmer near by. Bad gounding too.
