Fender Custom Shop Vintage Pro 1964 Jazz Bass vs. Fender Custom Shop 64 Jazz Bass NOS

Anyone know the difference? I was on MF today and saw the new Fiesta Red 64 CS, which I'm in love with now, but is it any different than the 64 NOS? They no longer have the NOS listed, only the Closet Classic, which is $600 more than the new Vintage Pro.

Looks pretty much identical from the spec list. Perhaps the other thread about this is right and it's just re-introducing it at a lower price and maybe even distancing from the aging process of the other time machine models, seeing as NOS isn't aged at all...

Oh almost forgot, you can get it in different colours! That's the only difference I can see. I'd have to pick one up and play it though, major lust for the Custom 64 for years now. Played one through a Mesa 400+ into a fridge baby it was like what I'd heard inside my head as what a bass should sound like but real. Wish I wasn't broke at the time as the 400+ is discontinued and the 64 just keeps going up in price.

Oh shoot, search function shows me up again! Yeah, that's kinda what I thought, same thing, new name.

And I agree, the 64 are awesome. I've played one recently, and it was amazing. Just wished you could get a stack-knob set up stock. And that the Fiesta red had a matched headstock......then I wouldn't be able to keep myself away from them.

Thanks for the input Milo........

But really the only Lulls that pique my interest are the T-Birds, or P with a T-pickup. Sadowskys don't do anything for me.

That's funny, I saw an ebay (France) listing for a 'genuine' 1964 Fender Jazz in Fiesta Red yesterday - it seems much too cheap ($3,500) to be genuine (and the seller doesn't have much feedback either ), but it might be worth investigating if you're feeling brave .

(Obviously) I have no affiliation to the seller/sale of this bass, I'm just passing on some info .

Hmmm......interesting. That's very pretty. However, weren't 64's part of the L-series? The plate might be a replacement, and who knows what else.....
