FENDER Custom SHOP vs CLASSIC vs Master

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, All,

Just wanted to find out the difference between a Fender Custom SHOP bass, and a Fender Custom CLASSIC bass. And furthermore, what are the differences between both 'SHOP, 'CLASSIC, and MASTERBUILT ?

My take on it is as follows:

A Custom Shop bass is any bass that comes out ot the Custom Shop, including Custom Classic and Masterbuilt basses. I sometimes see the term Custom Shop bass used to describe just the 4-string passive basses that are "team built" in the Custom Shop.

Custom Classics are the four and five string basses out of the Custom Shop that have active electronics and blocks for fret markers.

MasterBuilt basses are made in the Custom Shop primarily by a single individual who has attained Master Builder status, and these basses offer more options than a team-built Custom Shop bass (at a considerable premium).

There's more info on Fender's Custom Shop web site, including an order form that you can print off showing various models and options.

Hope this helps...

Bob

Thanks, RColie, it's just the information I need. I prefer jazzbasses, and use two Sadowsky's, but I want to put my hands on a top-line Fender Jazzbass ( at a decent price ). Have you had any experience comparing the Sad's with Fender Custom Shop stuff ? Thanks again
