What a cool post. I know $1,600 may be a bit steep for some, but I'd pay that to "build" my own Fender. Beyond the bass, a cool memory goes along with the purchase.

Only thing stopping me (other than the cash) is the plane ride to California. I wish the Design Experience was available as an online option.

I did the tour a year ago and loved it. It was a fabulous experience.
Same tour guide and he was excellent too. As a guy who had worked on the floor for many years he knew everything.

I also loved the fact that I could try every bass and amp in their demo room (inside the visitor center). I had a blast.

And guess what, I bought another Fender this year (ash body limited run with maple neck - US standard P bass - an excellent instrument and it's very light).

The dark bass on the picture looks like Ash too.
