Fender FSR Standard Jazz Bass

Hello everyone, I have a few questions about the Fender FSR jazz bass.

I was wondering what affect the ash body would have as compared to the alder bodies in regular jazz basses?

Also, what about the bass makes it $100 cheaper than a regular jazz bass?

Finally, how long do you think it will stay in production? I am thinking about getting one in about 4-5 months but if it will go out of production before then I will have to buy it sooner.

Any other comments about this bass or the way I am posting(I am new to this forum and playing bass as well) would be greatly appreciated.

These are specially made for Guitar Center and it's affiliates. They've been making them for quite a while now, but who knows how long they'll continue. It's up to the whims of the higher ups in both companies. If they stop, there will still be used ones available here and there, so don't worry too much.
