Fender help
 

So, the time has come. I am ready to buy a new bass and have decided on a fender P. I have a few GL's and looking for something different. So I can't decide on a vintage bass or a new one. I have 2000 to spend and am trying to decide between a 59 custom shop p (got a buddy that will sell one) or a vintage bass. Thoughts? An older bass would be awesome but sounds a little scary.

What do you want to do with it? Is this gonna be an at home jammer or a gigger? If its gonna be an at home type bass I wouldn't be afraid of going vintage. But at that price you may only crack into a 70s vintage.
