The way I see it, you pay less and you don't have to have the moment where it gets it's first ding. It is always easier after the first one, but the first one is always , every one after that is added mojo.

The first scratch/dent is always tough, but every one after that is added mojo.

Yes, nearly half of what I paid for the bass...but I just sold the original one here on TB for enough that it ended up being worth it for me. Evidently the word is out on these AM Special necks, so selling your existing one shouldn't be a problem if it stays like new.

Regarding your earlier post, I haven't recorded anything with the honeyburst so far. My "Number One" is still the '65 Precision I've had for a long time that is my main recording P-Bass. It is somewhat of a mongrel with its Warmoth Jazz neck and Lollar pickup but it's otherwise all original.

I too was instantly drawn to this bass when I played it in GC a couple of months ago. I was not even close to being able to justify a new bass. When I saw someone looking at Fenders, I put this bass in their hands. If I couldn't have it I wanted someone else to buy it.

They look great in person.

Picked mine up today and went right to the scale. 7.5 lbs of pure tone. The neck feels better then my old american standard and what a nice woody punch!

Honestly either neck looks good, I just love that Honeyburst body though.
