I got an original tort pickguard off ebay. There's a couple of non-original ones there now; otherwise off Pickguardian or similar sites.

Here's my Jaguar Bass (crappy cell phone pic):

I'm a precision guy at heart, but have always loved this bass (this is the second HHR one that I've owned). Along with the pickup mod, I shielded it; very quiet now. Also added the BAII bridge.

I'm very happy with it, but may swap out the pickups for something more vintage sounding.

I like the P/J config on that Jag up there. I was thinking about doing that to mine.

Same here I need a #. Although from the last few pages I've seen this page hasn't been updated with #'s for a while. Therefore I felt too lazy to take a pic. If this page is ever brought back from the dead and starts releasing #'s for this awesome bass then I'll add a pic as well

Anyone in this club had a CIJ jag rerouted for soap bars and/or anything larger than jazz pickups?
I'm thinking its not a big deal, but I'm wondering if removing the wood will make an appreciable difference in the acoustic/natural tone of the bass?

Jaguar wiring mod help...opinions?

I need help rewiring my jag bass. I want to add 2 stacked pots for independent vol/tone for each pickup instead of master vol. tone. From the stock diagram you have a hot lead running from the 3 slide switches to the master volume, you also have a single wire from the active passive switch running to the master volume as well. So my question is, how would I rewire so I have 2 leads coming from the slide switches to each concentric pot and what should I do with the preamp lead going to the master volume? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

you should toss a black pick guard on that one and really go black beauty.

I call mine the stealth bass, black pg on black body with rs88 nylon (also black) strings. I want to replace the chrome with black plating in the near future, but that might be going too far.

Did anyone ever figure out what those ceramic pickups were in the original MIJs?

I've asked before but got no response.

Someone started the rumor that they were the same as in the GL and I unthinkingly repeated it until I opened my Jaguar up and immediately saw it was nonsense.

Thanks for any help on this!

I love these new original Jaguars! Prob the coolest thing Fender has done in a long while.

I had the Bass Mage johnk_10 work his Dark Arts on it and it went from being a really good bass to just amazing. Prob my favorite bass to date and I have a ton of them, including old fenders. You can read about it on his great site. In a nut shell:

1. Dimarzio Model J pu's- super dark and loud. Humbuckers essentially.
2. New Allparts neck, shaved to a 60's profile, rolled, bound and refinished nitro- with matching black headstock. (new correct 3/32" size dots too, John is nothing if not a detail man)
3. Gotoh resolite tuners (addressing the neck dive.)
4. Swapped out Fender pre for EMG preamp (much groovier. Less zizzy sounding.)
5. Painted the routes for shielding (addressing the noise issue.)
6. New tortoise pick guard (addressing my nerd issues.)
7. Recessed the switches and swapped out the knobs for Bakelite knobs
8. NOS çap from late sixties on the passive tone circuit.
9. Bassmute (I love those things!)

Thanks John!!!
