This one is Jade Pearl Metallic which I hve not seen before.
Sounds great, plays even better. I've been a Warwick/Lakland guy up til now and have to admit the Fender Jazz is a really nice bass.
Please assign me a clean number to whomever the numberer be!

On monday i am gonna check a 1976 jazz bass, the one with the S/N on the neckplate, big logo style, sunburst ash and maple neck.
My friend has a 77 with S/N on the head, small logo style, natural finish, weight a ton with a 3 piece bad looking ash body but sounds just insane. This bass is amazing and of course i wonder if i can expect same kind of sound on the 76?
My friend told me the body could be different, the size of the horns.
I play quite often his 77 and of course i 'm gonna try this 76. Just afraid to be disapointed. I know it sounds stupid but i heard the 77 is different in production compared to the 76.
I really dig the slap tone, this old school Marcus Miller slap sound. And the finger tone is just amazing too. Neck pocket on the 77 is huge, with a big space between the neck and the body. But the bass has this mojo you want and expect from a Fender.
Hope the 76 is the same...
Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you. |

I have never changed PUPs before so don't know how much they can actually affect tone ... guessing that instrument design, PUP placement, strings and wood are more deciding on tone
I got the EMG J set for next to nothing, along with the Quarter Pounders, so it's just an experiment. If I don't like either of them (assuming I can actually hear the difference) I'll just revert to std PUPs and flip the two other sets.
But then, as you say: the EMGs, if nothing else, result in active tone control... | Just yesterday I put a set of Quarter Pounders on my Fender Jazz. As one might expect "I jazzed it up"
