I bought it 20 years ago from Ronnie Rae Snr (top double bass player in Scotland). I ripped the frets out after discovering Jaco, but the inlays caused too much buzz. This bass then sat in my garage since then. Got it refretted, neck sanded and lacquered, body resprayed black and a new tort guard. It's a stunning bass now that sounds the dogs' nuts!

I finally got around to ordering the correct caps, and was able to wire it up to stereo output. I'll admit, the wiring was not pretty (turned out halfway through I was using plumbing solder...not too easy to work with), but what the setup is now is the Dagstar goes to the first stack know, and then the first output. The Jazz pup goes to the 2nd stack and 2nd output. Completely isolates the circuits, so the tone controls aren't cross-talking now. Not the most elegant solution, but I'm more than happy with it.
The second picture shows my potential dual rig, though I'm actually finding I'm more happy by plugging the bridge pup into the Sunn's normal channel, and the Dagstar into the Sunn's Bright channel. Really massive sound.

As for sound, not a trad Jazz bass sound, more of a powerfull Precision sound, perfect IMO for a rock band, if that is of any help. |
