Tried a bunch of MIA J Standards today... liked a purple one, no idea how old... a few others just sounded dead. When I get me 2012 MIA J standard in I will see how it compares to the used purple people eater... whoever wins in the tone department gets the nod

Tuna Bro!
What's up man.

The new ones are sweet...I have a very broken in 99 and a 2010....the 2010 is much nicer. My 99 is my main gigging bass...only because playing in some of the crapola places in Baltimore. t's got some scratches...stickers, but it could be brought back to fine appearance in no time. It's deceptive...I try and cheapen its look so nobody with "sticky-fingers" is tempted to walk away with it.

I don't know why Fender doesn't offer tort on the new Am. Dlx. Basses... Let me tell you that custom made pickguard looks awesome. Kudos!

1) Fender AV JB RI '62 - all original except replacement Warmoth swamp ash body in Surf Green and Fender Vintage RI '62 mint green PG
2) Fender AV JB RI '62 alder body refined in Ice Blue Metallic - Fender Custom Shop '60s PUs - Fender US Vintage RI hardware and mint green PG - Allparts '75 maple neck w/Fender logo
3) Fender AV PB RI '62 in Fiesta Red, D-drop key
4) Fender CIJ JB RI '62 in 3TSB - Fender US Vintage RI '62 PUs, tort PG and bridge

Each has its specific sound and feel.
1) Deep and warm, very fast neck
2) Bright and twangy, very well heard in the mix, coarser neck
3) Pure PB power, much presence
4) Best with my jazz band, very fast neck...

1), 3) and 4) with flats, 2) with halfrounds.

Patrick

it belongs to my bass tech... a local luthier here in Manila. It's a converted mini-kit (the bass drum is actually the floor tom) and it sounds awesome. perfect for spontaneous jams with lots of beer
