Just wanting some help with a Fender Jazz Bass serial number.
The Jazz Bass has had the serial number removed (scratched off) some time ago (pre 1989) from the head stock.
When I purchased the bass I requested a serial number check, and the salesman had the neck removed and obtained the serial numbers below - which he wrote on the sales receipt.
Serial No: 1162
5 AGU 74 (note sure if it was meant to read 5 AUG 74)
I have checked the Fender website URL below, but the info above does not aline with any info posted on the website. Is anyone able to shed some light on the info provided - without me having to remove the neck to obtain more accurate info.
