Fender Jazz "Frankenbuild"?..like Tim Commerford

I have often thought about building one of these (BEAD)...i bet its a dream to play. I would prolly go with

-'61 jazz RI body (stack knob!)
-P Bass neck (vintage or gently used?...dont know yet)
-N3 p/u's
-BAII bridge
-Audere pre

Can anyone give me a heads up on potential problems with neck/pocket fit?

Just realize that the reverse headstock won't make a world of difference to the tension or feel of the low B. If you watch more recent RATM videos and you'll see him playing Lakland basses with regular headstocks.

Fender (and copy) bodies and necks should work together perfectly. You may need to sand down the sides of the neck heel or pocket because of finish build-up.

I will prolly use the bass for doing covers with lower tuning such as
-Deftones
-APC
-QOTSA
etc

Dont remember if there is any RATM tunes that even use low B....mostly drop D and EADG....no?

I believe he went to BEAD in Audioslave.

Audioslave stuff would be a pain to play in BEAD. Drop-D works best for it, I find.

That brings me to the idea of a reverse Telecaster bass neck - with big banjo tuners like on the Gibson Firebird. That would look nice.
Are there versions for the bass? (Thunderbird?)
