The Squier Precision TB has one humbucker, a basswood body with a satin poly neck, available in Sunburst only. The Fender Modern Player Tele has an Alder body, gloss finished neck, and two humbuckers available in sunburst and butterscotch blonde. Two similar yet very different basses. Ther'e nothing wrong with Chinese Squiers anyway. A lot of their owners will tell you they think the CV's are worth twice what they paid.

It's all speculation, since nobody has had one in their hands yet.

| | | | Im pretty pumped over this. The squier is made out of basswood and this one is made out of alder. At least thats different. I have one of the squiers and really dig it. I thought they did a pretty good job getting close to the original. I expect these to be around the quality of the blacktop line. Not great but not bad. |

If I wanted a bass like this, I would build it custom from Warmoth. |

Actually, I want to play it. I will be checking local Guitar Centers for sure.
Then, I'll most likely get one used because my bank account doesn't need a $600 dent right now.
Whatever the case, these are incredibly hot and I love the idea. I could care less where it comes from as long as it plays and sounds well - the rest could even be crap as long as mine's nice.

I also want to play the Jazz version with two humbuckers! If the pickups in that one are capable of being split I would be all over it. It's also $100 less than the Tele bass.

I ALMOST love the look. If only they could back-route the electronics and get rid of that giant amoeba. Oh yeah: and put vintage frets on it.

I made this recording a little while back of the Squier VM TB pickup in the bridge position of my modded SX bass: Listen
It's got a little weird phasing or something going on, probably because of the MP3 encoding...
I think that was with a 250K pot, though, and wired in parallel.

Would be nice to know for sure what they are.
