Fender Mustang 'Stripe'

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I've been looking into the Squier Mustang bass...it all looks sound hardware wise, but part of the aesthetic appeal of Mustangs for me has been the 'racing stripe'.
My question is...is the stripe on the Mustangs painted on...is there anywhere where one can buy a stripe to add to the visual appearance of the bass?
Trivial I know...but bear with me

The factory ones are probably painted, but I don't know that for sure. I've seen decal versions on ebay, try a search for competition stripe on the 'bay

When stock Mustangs have stripes, they are painted on. It was a thing they were doing in the late 60's to early 70's if I remember rightly. It is possible to get the competition stripes as a vinyl sticker. They're (generally) easy to apply and come off cleanly too, should you decide to remove them. As previously mentioned, have a look around on eBay and search for "racing stripe". It brings up a lot more hits than "competition stripe".
